Mahrah province tribal leaders found new " National Salvation council" to resist foreign occupatio

MAHRAH – Sheikh Ali Salem al-Huraizi, former undersecretary of Mahrah province and opposed to Saudi and UAE occupation, on Tuesday revealed the establishment of a National Salvation council representing all factions and components in the southern provinces of Yemen.

Sheikh al-Huraizi said that the new entity would bear the name of “Southern National Salvation Council” and would be officially declared from Mahrah, according to Al-Jazeera website.

In a statement recently issued, head of the political bureau of the so-called “Revolutionary Movement Council” Fadi Baoum said that it would announced soon about the formation of a southern national bloc and that among its objectives is to work to end the foreign military presence in the country.

The statement pointed to the pursuit of establishing a partnership between all components of the people with the criminalization of any exclusion, emphasizing on reconciliation and tolerance, rejecting any foreign intervention, whatever, and giving power back to the people through elected representatives and referendum.

The announcement of the formation of the southern rescue council came following the control of the UAE-backed southern transitional council’s militias over the southern port city of Aden and some southern provinces.

In a statement to the British Independent newspaper, Sheikh al-Huraizi said “the people of Mahrah are preparing to defend their province,” in light of expectations that the transitional council’s militias try to control the provinces, eastern Aden, and continue east towards the desert.
